Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy Buds On, a new pair of open-ear earbuds designed for comfortable listening while staying aware of your surroundings. Unlike traditional earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, Galaxy Buds On uses a clip-on design that rests around the ear.
The new earbuds are aimed at people who enjoy listening to music while walking, running or handling everyday tasks. They combine an open-ear design with hands-free controls, AI features and technology designed to improve call quality.
Samsung says the Galaxy Buds On will launch in the United States in early November 2026 for $229. European availability is planned for early 2027.
Samsung Galaxy Buds On Features and Design
Comfort is one of the main features of the Galaxy Buds On. Samsung used more than 119 million ear data points, AI-assisted design improvements and physics simulations to develop a fit suitable for different ear shapes.
Each earbud weighs just 6.65 grams and features a flexible band designed to provide a secure fit without putting too much pressure on the ear. The earbuds also support tap controls, allowing users to manage audio without constantly reaching for their phones.
The open-ear design may be useful for outdoor activities because it allows users to remain more aware of nearby sounds. However, people looking for strong noise isolation may prefer traditional in-ear earbuds.
Sound Quality, Battery Life and Call Features

The Galaxy Buds On features a 11.3mm TwinBoost speaker system designed to deliver rich audio. Automatic volume adjustment responds to surrounding noise, while Samsung’s Audio Leakage Reduction technology aims to reduce sound escaping from the earbuds.
For calls, the earbuds use three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit to help separate the user’s voice from background noise. Machine-learning technology is also designed to reduce sounds such as traffic and construction noise.
Battery life is another important feature. Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of music playback on one charge and up to 38 hours when the charging case is included. Actual battery performance will depend on settings and usage.

AI Features and Galaxy Ecosystem Support
Samsung has added several hands-free features for Galaxy users. Users can access Gemini Live through voice commands, record quick voice memos and search recordings using Bixby.
Head gestures offer another convenient option. Nodding can accept certain prompts, while shaking the head can decline them. These controls are designed to make everyday tasks easier when users are exercising or moving around.
Setting up the earbuds is also simple for compatible Galaxy devices. Users can open the charging case to connect the earbuds, then adjust volume and equaliser settings through the phone’s Quick Panel.
The earbuds support Android 12 or later with more than 1.5GB of memory, although some features may be limited on non-Samsung devices.

With an open-ear design, long claimed battery life and hands-free AI features, Galaxy Buds On offers an alternative to conventional earbuds. Its value will depend on whether buyers prefer environmental awareness and comfort over the noise isolation offered by in-ear models.
